Settlement Update (May 2024)
The Church of the Eagle and the Condor has reached a settlement to secure its religious freedom and the right to use Ayahuasca as its sacrament. We want to thank you for the support of our donors, legal team, community, and those who offered their prayers.
Reciprocity (Sept. 2024)
The CEC continues in our commitment to supporting our Shipibo network in Peru. Over this past summer of 2024, with the support of our community, Joe Tafur traveled to Pucallpa to meet with leaders of Shipibo organizations Oni Xobo, ASOMASHK, and COSHICOX. The meeting in Pucallpa was primarily dedicated to share and answer questions about the CEC’s activities and our recent court settlement. We are in ongoing dialogue with these Pucallpa-based organizations and are exploring potential collaborative opportunities.
We have recently begun to support a reforestation project in Iquitos, Peru in collaboration with the Shipibo nonprofit ADEPIAP (ASOCIACION DE DESARROLLO PARA LOS PUEBLOS INDIGENAS DE LA AMAZONÍA PERUANA-ADEPIAP: Association for Indigenous Community Development in the Peruvian Amazon). With Modern Spirit Organization, Inc. acting as fiscal sponsor, funds have been transferred to ADEPIAP for a reforestation project that will also involve planting ayahuasca and chacruna for sustainable harvesting.
We continue to collaborate with Nihue Rao Centro Espiritual in Iquitos, Peru and with Nihue Rao Xobo in Pucallpa, Peru and we are grateful for their assistance in educating our community as we seek greater understanding of ancestral wisdom and spirituality.
